Welcome to Spitsbergen
The
island of Spitsbergen is located half way between Norway and the
North Pole and has an area of 63.000 km, of which 2/3 is covered
by glaciers and ice.
This is Norway's most exotic destination, an outpost with impressive
mountains, fjords and glaciers it radiates an icy beauty with an
extraordinary light. This is the only place in Norway where you
can encounter a Polar Bear, the majestic Kings of the Arctic. Longyearbyen
is the largest Norwegian settlement but it is
also possible to visit a Russian settlement on the island.
